Private Aquamation
Private aquamation means your pet’s ashes will be returned to you. Private chambers reside within the unit providing a complete barrier among individual pets. The ashes from private aquamation will be returned to families along with a certificate of service. Ashes can be picked up from our Loveland Comfort Center, delivered directly to your home, veterinary clinic, or carefully shipped to you via USPS Priority Express.
Guardian Pet also provides three container options for the return of ashes. Our complimentary container(s) is a rectangular box safely holding all ashes inside. Our lovely brass urns and wooden Sheesham urns are designed for those families who want something more permanent. When making arrangements, we will ask which option you prefer. You are welcome to provide your own container as well. We also provide two ash jewelry options for those wishing to hold ashes close to their heart.
Interested in lovely blown glass art containing your pet’s ashes? Guardian Pet recommends Manda’s Blown Glass in Estes Park, Colorado. The quality is wonderful and prices are very reasonable. Create a treasured keepsake.
Communal Aquamation
A communal aquamation means ashes will not be returned, and instead spread on the Cooney farm in Loveland, Colorado. Pets will be placed together in the unit and therefore all ash will be combined together. Families are invited to come and walk in the memorial garden, near where the ashes are spread, on Sunday mornings from 9am-noon. No appointment necessary. Parking is next to the Comfort Center with our memorial garden.
Transport to Our Location
Families usually prefer we help with transportation to our location. When we arrive at your home, arrangements are finalized, we make a lovely complimentary paw print, and safely transition your pet to our vehicle. Our vehicle is all prepared and fully enclosed. If preferred, you may drive your pet to our location during business hours (M-F, 9am to 4pm) with an appointment. If your pet passes naturally in the night, you may keep them with you safely until the morning and then call us for immediate pickup.
Safely Holding a Pet’s Body Overnight
It is common for families to want to keep their deceased pet overnight before aquamation arrangements are made the next day. Pets can be safely kept in the home, garage, or other protected area away from wildlife and the elements. We recommend keeping them in a cool place and shrouded with a light sheet or blanket. If they will be inside the home, please tuck towels or absorbent pads under their body to contain fluids. Odor can be reduced by spraying neutralizing aerosols, lighting scented candles, or diffusing essential oils like lemon, eucalyptus, and purification into the air. Sprinkling baking soda on and around the body can also help. The body will become firm within a few hours of death, so if possible, tuck legs into a sleeping position. And many families take this time as an opportunity to spend time with their beloved pet; to honor and reflect on the beautiful life shared. Pets can be safely kept in the home for up to 3 days or longer if desired.
Viewings
Families are invited to make arrangements for viewing their pet’s body before aquamation. This takes place at our Loveland Comfort Center during business hours (M-F, 9-4pm). This is especially important for families whose pet has passed while they were away and who wish to spend time with their pet before aquamation takes place. There is no charge for viewings. Witnessed aquamation services are not offered at our facility due to county regulations. If you wish to view your pet’s cremation, we invite you to make arrangements with one of the local flame-based companies in the area.
Body Holding for Burial
Guardian Pet Aquamation is proud to offer holding options for families who wish to bury their pet when the time is right for them. We safely hold your pet until the burial site is prepared, even over many months if needed. The cost to hold a pet is $5 a day or $100 a month. Please call our office to make arrangements. If you wish to bury your pet, please adhere to the following guidelines:
- Ensure you have permission to bury in the area
- Prepare to cover the pet’s body with 3 feet or more of earth
- Be careful of buried power lines, water lines, and tree roots
- Choose higher ground, avoid flood plains
- Choose more rural land than city zones; many towns/cities forbid burial of pets within city limits
